据微软官方 blog的消息，windows 的默认浏览器 Edge将切换内核至 Chromium，并且微软将秉承开源精神，在未来更多的为 Chromium项目贡献代码。

For the past few years, Microsoft has meaningfully increased participation in the open source software (OSS) community, becoming one of the world’s largest supporters of OSS projects. Today we’re announcing that we intend to adopt the Chromium open source project in the development of Microsoft Edge on the desktop to create better web compatibility for our customers and less fragmentation of the web for all web developers.
As part of this, we intend to become a significant contributor to the Chromium project, in a way that can make not just Microsoft Edge — but other browsers as well — better on both PCs and other devices.

对于普通用户，一些之前没有适配过 edge 的页面会有更好的用户体验。
如果你们使用的网页之前就有适配 ie、edge 的话，更换内核后页面并不会有什么差别。
对于 Web 开发者， 这意味着什么？
意味着更好的前端开发体验，虽然 Edge 相对于 IE 已有相当大的进步。但是仍然存在各种适配问题。加上 IE 并没有被完全摒弃。Edge 的出现不仅没有降低前端开发人员适配 IE 的痛苦。反而又新增了一个新的需要适配的浏览器。
Edge 切换至 Chromium 内核意味着前端开发人员能减少许多的适配烦恼。
微软邀请开发者加入 edge 开发者社区，安装预览版的 Edge 并以此测试自己的网页。
并且微软昨天刚刚创建了新的 github repository 用于放置 Microsoft Edge 相关文档。预计后续新版本内核的 Edge 可能也会放置于此 Repository， 大家不妨关注一下:

微软作为一个互联网行业的巨头，以往的脚步都是偏沉缓的。
但如今我们能感受到它慢慢变的轻盈起来：更多的参与到开源事业（2018 年的 github contributor 冠军）、创建出广受好评的开源项目（VS Code，TypeScript 等）、收购 Github、切换 Edge 内核。
不断做出改变的 MS 值得我们的进一步期待。
