I am using netbeans 8.1 to read shell scripts. Here is a way to make the shell supporting coloring shell scripts.
Installing c/c++ plugins in netbeans can make it work.
open tools/plugins/Available Plugins/, check c/c++ plugins, then click "Install",
after the installation is finished, restart netbeans. you will find the shell script has been colored(no matter whether the script has suffix sh).
