Tragically, around the world, suicide is one of the leading causes of death among teenagers aged 15 to 19.
According to WHO, approximately 7.5 children in every 100000 commit suicide, with the rate being much higher for males than females.
One of the most disturbing phenomena is that sometimes suicide suddenly occurs in clusters; that is, a kid kills himself or herself then another kid do the same in the nearby house or town, then another.
Even more disturbing is the phenomenon in some countries where groups of teenagers commit suicide together.
Even with the high rate of teenage suicide, the WHO estimates that the data may not be that reliable because, for some religious and cultural reasons, suicides are often underreported.
