We all know 5G by now. As a fifth-generation cellular standard, it enhances your phone’s wireless connectivity with faster speeds, lower latency, and greater bandwidth capacity. In fact, it can reduce latency to a millisecond or less, enabling near-instantaneous connections. If we want a future defined as ubiquitous connectivity, we need 5G technology with a fairly high level of performance. But will we be able to see such performance in the near future? As it turns out, Samsung’s Exynos Modem 5400 can reach speeds of 11.2Gbps with FR1 alone.
In order to understand how the Exynos Modem 5400 pushes the boundaries, it’s important to first understand how 5G communication works. The 5G standard specifies two frequency ranges (FR): FR1 and FR2. FR1 contains frequencies ranging from 410 megahertz (MHz) to 7.125 gigahertz (GHz), while FR2 contains frequencies ranging from 24.25 to 52.6 GHz
