Education&Work

Some people believe that studying in a college or university is the best way to prepare for their future career. Others think they should leave school as soon as possible to develop their career through work experience. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

There is a topic as old as university itself, which is about whether the college is beneficial to students to hunt for a job. Some people emphasize the importance of college on students’ career advancement. Others, however, insist that students should work directly instead of having further degree so that they can gain more work experience.

Studying in an university tends to have positive impacts on students’ future career. The reason for this may involve recognition that students can learn more professional knowledge and have a deeper recognition about their major . Therefore, they are likely to make a certain career plan. For example, as for some business learners, when they have a good command of finance and management and compare with them, they may be clear the direction of their vocation. These graduates with tertiary education qualifications and specific perception of career can easily get their ideal offers, and they can work based on theoretical knowledge, with fewer mistake and faster promotion.

Those who support students should work directly as quickly as possible think these young employees, compared with other peers, can gain more work and social experience. Therefore, the work skills can be mastered expertly and they are likely to be more mature. As a result, when they want to find a new job, abundant experience can put them at an advantageous position in the fierce competition and they can quickly adapt to the rhythm of working. However, they ignore a fact that people without advanced educating can hardly work on high-skilled jobs. In other words, those young employees can only employ themselves in some jobs which are not beyond their abilities , even if they have sufficient experience.

Overall, studying in universities can help students cater for their high-level needs but enormous times and costs should be invested. On the other hand, working directly may help young employees gain more experience but they may just work on low-skilled jobs.
