The Linux Foundation is working with Australia's national science agency CSIRO, microkernel operating system to create seL4 ecology.
Linux Foundation announced recently hosted seL4 Foundation , the Foundation of Australia's national science agency CSIRO digital agency seL4 Data61 created operating system microkernel-based projects. seL4 is a secure operating system kernel, designed to ensure the confidentiality of critical real-world computer systems, security, and reliability.
Foundation Founding members include Cog Systems, DornerWorks, Ghost Locomotion, HENSOLD Cyber and UNSW Sydney.
seL4 is a member of L4 microkernel family, which provides isolation between applications running on the system guarantees the highest level, can contain harmful one part of the system, and to prevent damage to the system may be more critical of the other part.
According to reports, seL4 is the world's first to be proved mathematically secure operating system kernel, and also stressed that security on the basis of performance, is the world's fastest, most advanced OS microkernel. It is for trusted security aspects of embedded computing systems would be of great significance, specific point of view may affect avionics, autonomous vehicles, medical equipment, critical infrastructure and defense industries. In theory, SeL4 can be used as underlying Linux and other Unix-like operating systems, even previously been considered for GNU / Linux "true kernel" GNU Hurd.
