What is WeIdentity?
WeIdentity is a set of distributed multi-center technical solutions that can carry the trusted mapping between the actual identity of the entity object (person or thing) and the identity on the chain, and realize the secure access authorization and data exchange between entity objects. WeIdentity is independently developed by WeBank and is completely open source. Adhering to the concept of public alliance chain to integrate resources, exchange value, and serve the public, WeIdentity is committed to becoming a distributed business infrastructure linking multiple vertical industries, promoting pan-industry, cross-institution, and cross- Identity authentication and data cooperation between regions.
1. Introduction of main modules
WeIdentity currently mainly contains two modules: WeIdentity DID and WeIdentity Credential.
Distributed Identity (WeIdentity DID)
In the traditional way, user registration and identity management are completely dependent on a single-center registry; with the emergence of distributed ledger technology (such as blockchain), distributed multi-center identity registration, identification and management become possible. The WeIdentity DID module implements a set of distributed multi-center identity identification protocol conforming to the W3C DID specification on the FISCO-BCOS blockchain underlying platform , so that the actual identity of the entity (person or thing) realizes the identity on the chain; at the same time; , WeIdentity DID gives Entity (person or thing) the ability to directly own and control its own identity ID.
