Commonly used WAN protocol configuration—Vecloud

Commonly used WAN protocols mainly include high-level data link control protocol HDLC, integrated services digital network ISDN, point-to-point protocol PPP, packet switching protocol X.25 and frame relay Frame-Relay. The serial port of the router provides the connection with the WAN, but the connection with ISDN needs to go through the ISDN interface. The configuration method of the WAN protocol is as follows:
1. Configure HDLC (ppp)
Advanced Data Link Control Protocol HDLC is a point-to-point WAN protocol, which is the default WAN protocol of CISCO routers.
2. Configure baseband ISDN
ISDN is a digital service that uses digital technology to develop on existing telephone lines. There are two types of ISDN, BRI (Basic Rate ISDN) and PRI (Primary Rate
ISDN). BRI provides three channels of 2B+D. Each B channel has a bandwidth of 64K. The B channel is identified by the SPID (Service Profile Identifier) number. The configuration of ISDB is somewhat different from other WAN protocols.
3. Configure X.25
X.25 is the oldest wide-area data transmission protocol. Although it is the originator of all wide-area data transmission protocols, and has made great contributions to wide-area transmission, it seems that it has come to an end now, and the application of X.25 is less and less.
4. Configure Frame Relay
As the development of X.25 network protocol, Examda reminds: Frame Relay is a high-performance wide area network protocol. It is a simplified version of X.25, omitting some of the mandatory functions of X.25, such as providing window technology and data retransmission function. This is because the design of frame relay is based on the network transmission environment. The improvement is the premise.
