Regarding the paper submission and competition rules of Meisai, the studio has compiled the following precautions for friends, please read carefully and prepare in advance~
table of Contents
1. Before the competition
1. Topic View
The contest questions will be provided on the contest website at 6:00 AM Beijing Standard Time on February 5, 2021 (Friday), for the team to view: https://www.comap.com/
2. Documentation resources and references
The team can use any source of inanimate data, materials, computers, software, references, websites, books, etc. The team should use footnotes, endnotes or online documents to cite all sources used and include a list of relevant references that cite all sources. The team stipulated in the competition rules (especially rule 6) shall not seek help from anyone other than team members.
The team should keep the following guidelines in mind when solving problems and developing solutions:
1) Summary table: The summary is an important part of the MCM/ICM paper and should be displayed on the first page of the solution report. The judges attach great importance to the abstract! Award-winning papers are usually distinguished from other papers based on the quality of the abstract.
2) To write a good abstract, imagine that readers will choose whether to read the body of the paper based on your abstract: the concise expression in the abstract should arouse readers’ interest.
3) You should write a summary at the end, because it should clearly describe your solution to the problem and the most important conclusion. After solving the problem, make sure you plan your time to write a summary.
4) An abstract that is merely a restatement of a contest question or a cut-and-paste template in the introduction is generally considered weak and very disadvantageous in the judging.
Overall: the team’s solution should be clear, concise, and organized so that readers can easily follow the process and conclusion of the solution. The key is to put forward the main ideas and results.
2. During the competition
1. Solution
MCM/ICM solutions are judged to be different in the degree of successful completion of the competition (from successful participants to excellent). There is no specific score, so only partial solutions are acceptable, but we encourage the team to complete as many problems as they can. The MCM/ICM judges are mainly interested in the team's thinking process, problem analysis, modeling methods and mathematical methods.
The team must submit the entire solution to an Adobe PDF electronic file, which includes written text, graphics, diagrams and supporting materials. The paper must be entered in English and the readable font must be at least 12-point type. Do not send other "non-solution" files, such as data or computer programs.
Each page of the solution must include the team control number and page number at the top of the page. Use the page title on each page-for example: Team # 204321, Page 6 of 13.
The solution report should start with the summary table and then the team's solution. Make sure that your solution meets the page restrictions described in the question. Contents are encouraged and count towards the page limit. Reference lists (or bibliography), comment pages and any appendices are counted towards the page limit and should be included after the solution page.
The names of students, advisors and/or institutions must not appear on any page of the solution. The solution file must not contain any identifying information other than the team control number.
On Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 9:00 am Beijing time, no changes to the solution will be made.
