Light NAS is also the type of product that domestic manufacturers are currently pushing into the NAS field. The configuration and use of this type of product are simpler, and the desktop and mobile apps are generally more integrated. With a relatively cheap price and a simpler technical threshold, it provides functions such as photo and video backup, file management/sharing, and remote download that are frequently used by ordinary users. The MAGE10 personal private network disk stored by Hikvision I shared with you today is a typical light NAS, providing photo and file backup (local face recognition classification based on AI chip), remote download (including http/ftp based on this machine) /Magnetic download, plaything download, Baidu network disk), file sharing, LAN video streaming (SMB/AFP/DLNA) and other functions.
Appearance and design
Since I got the engineering version of the machine, it is not ruled out that the packaging and product details may be slightly different from the mass production machine. All the experiences and tests in this article are based on this machine.
MAGE10 is different from the previous Haikang storage NAS in terms of naming. The previous products are named after H+XX according to the position and function, but this time MAGE takes the meaning of magician, and it is younger in terms of naming and packaging. And life. The zipper-style disposable packaging avoids the possibility of re-opening the box for sale, and at the same time reserves space for the design. In terms of appearance design, MAGE10 continues the style of Hikvision’s H101. It is still a single-disk book-type design. The heat dissipation hole, power button, 2 USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet port, and power port are all placed on the back of the fuselage. In the lower left corner of the body is the purple design style MAGE10 LOGO. USB has been upgraded from USB2.0 of H101 to USB3.0, and the speed of external storage copy/backup has been greatly improved.
In addition, this time MAEG10 also added an AI chip with 0.5TOPS computing power to recognize photos locally. At the same time, it can also prevent applications such as photo recognition from occupying the computing resources of the main chip. Maybe it is the only dual-chip design NAS at present?
Software experience and performance testing
MAGI10 has a built-in 4TB/8TB hard drive. After connecting the power supply and the network cable, the mobile phone opens the "Haikang Zhicun" APP to search for devices in the local area network, and sets the account password to complete the installation.
The MAGE10 I have is a 4TB version, the hard disk number is WDC WD40EFAX, and the query number belongs to the red disk dedicated to Western Digital NAS. For NAS equipment, in addition to the high price of dedicated NAS hard disks, the design will consider the characteristics of long-term continuous use of NAS, and the security will be better than ordinary storage disks. However, MAGE10 is a single-disk device after all. Considering the principle of data security, it is recommended to keep the original file on your device when backing up. It is safer if the eggs are not in the same basket at any time.
The design language of "Haikang Zhicun" APP 2.0 has been stable for a period of time. The latest version is 2.6.2. Below are the homepage, file and my three tabs. Photo and video backup
The photo and video backup function should be the most commonly used by everyone. After using the APP, I first performed the full-machine photo and video backup. Normally connected to the WiFi, the backup started at 14:22, and the 23.6GB photo and video backup was completed at 15:09. , The one-hour backup speed is about 30GB. Most users should not have more than 10GB of files in a single use. A single backup of 10GB is also within half an hour. The 30GB/hour backup speed is sufficient for daily use. You can back up when you don’t use your mobile phone/charging. That's it.
In addition to photo backup, one of the main upgrade points of MAGE10 this time is AI local face recognition (it is said that recognition functions such as pets and buildings will be upgraded later). The backup/stored photos will be classified after AI chip face recognition. It is indeed a very good way to sort photos by person when looking back at the photos. In addition, the APP can also be sorted by location, but the default is currently arranged by location. The video part supports sorting according to the timeline and alphabetical order, supports searching for videos by file name, and can also filter by time, year, and month. In addition to playing videos directly in the APP, it also supports direct screen projection to devices such as smart TVs or projectors, which is very suitable for sharing videos or playing movies/TV shows during family or friends gatherings.
Plug-in
For light NAS, it is not enough to only backup photos and videos. "Haikang Zhicun" also provides video surveillance, baby album, Dapeng speed, address book synchronization, offline download, Baidu network disk, and playthings. Download (Beta) and many other plug-ins.
Since I am still in a two-person world and do not use surveillance equipment, I have not installed the baby photo album and video surveillance functions. I mainly experienced the Baidu network disk, plaything download and offline download functions. Naturally, Baidu SkyDrive doesn’t need to say much. Although the upload and download speeds of non-members are touching, it is still the most abundant resource on the Internet. You can upload/download content directly from Baidu SkyDrive using the built-in Baidu SkyDrive plug-in in MAGE10. Although the membership speed is still faster, but you can start downloading/uploading remotely without turning on the computer, which is quite convenient in actual use.
Offline download is the download tool that comes with "Haikang Zhicun". It supports http, ftp and magnetic download. The actual test downloads a PC game through http. The maximum speed can reach about 11MB/s, which is basically the same as the download speed on the PC. The game download is a download tool based on the Thunder download engine. The file rate of downloading and offline download is about 8MB/s. Compared with offline download, it supports bt download. It can be downloaded remotely through the web address of WeChat/Plaything.

LAN sharing and performance testing
For NAS, LAN sharing is also a high-frequency usage scenario. MAGI10 supports Samba, AFP and DLNA three sharing methods. Samba and AFP can be used to access shared folders in the LAN, and DLNA can be used for other DLNA-enabled devices in the LAN (such as TV, speakers, etc.) directly access files on the NAS.
Actually using Samba to access MAGI10, the copy speed is about 110MB/s, which basically ran to the limit of 1000M LAN port.
This time, MAGI10 has also been upgraded to USB3.0, and the speed of copying files to MAGI10 using a mobile hard disk is also about 100MB/s. Daily use of USB to backup data will be faster than the original USB2.0 (theoretical maximum rate of 60MB/s). less.
In addition, I also tested the speed of Internet access. Since my current broadband does not have a public IP, the data transmission should be relayed through Haikang’s server. The measured download speed of Telecom’s 4G Internet access to MAGI10 can reach 2MB/s. The speed of the free transfer service provided by NAS is actually pretty good.
Video playback and transcoding
Since the internal network speed test can run over 1000M wired network, there is no problem with MAGI 10 playing ordinary 1080P, 4K videos, and test videos with a maximum bit rate of 170M can also be played smoothly (the performance of the player is sufficient, and the transmission speed of the NAS is far beyond the playback requirements) .
In addition, for low-end equipment and external network access, Haikang storage MAGI 10 also supports video transcoding, supporting four different definitions of original image/HD/clear/stream saving. It only takes a few seconds to switch the resolution. . Video transcoding is useful for devices with low configuration or external network access. The measured 1080P videos with different bit rates can be transcoded normally.
PC2.0 client (closed beta) experience
Before the deadline, I also got the Hikvision private disk PC2.0 client internal beta version. Since some functions of the internal beta version may not be fully implemented, here is a brief sharing experience. After the installation is complete, open the Haikang private disk software and the login interface will pop up. It supports two ways to log in using the mobile phone APP scan code and LAN scan. Select the device and enter the account password to log in to enter the network disk management interface.
The overall UI design of the PC2.0 client is similar to that of the mobile client. The left sidebars are "My Space", "Shared Space", "My Sharing", "Transfer List" and "Auto Backup". You can manage the files stored in the NAS in "My Space", but the current version of the software is still classified according to folders. It will be more convenient if you add the photo and video classification on the mobile APP. The "My Space" directory also supports the sharing of individual files or even folders. The "Shared Space" can upload and manage shared files, and the "My Share" can manage the files shared by the NAS.
However, the smart life plug-in on the mobile APP side is not seen on the PC client. Bringing offline download, address book synchronization and other functions to the PC side will greatly improve the PC application of this NAS.
"Auto Backup" can automatically back up the specified folder on the PC to the NAS, but currently there are not many setting options and novice guidance. I created a new "New Text Document.txt", deleted and recreated "222.txt" after setting the backup. From the backup folder in the NAS, both "New Text Document.txt" and "222.txt" were retained. It seems that the current backup mode defaults to incremental backup. However, the version I have at hand is still an early test version. Later, it is recommended to add settings such as mirroring/full synchronization, as well as daily useful version control functions.

As an old user who started to use Hikvision NAS from APP version 1.4 (H101, late 19th to early 20th), the function of the initial version 1.4 is really not perfect.
