Microsoft is preparing to release its next major update to Windows 10 this month, and the update, formerly known as the Spring Creators Update, has been renamed the April Update. Microsoft has recently released the RTM version of April Update, which introduces the new features of April Update through an  MSN page : resume past activities on the timeline, share files with nearby devices, and refactor the UI with the new Fluent design The Game Bar was introduced, a diagnostic data viewing tool was introduced, the ease of use of the Cortana digital assistant was improved, and more.

While it looks like Microsoft has named the first of two major updates planned for 2018, when it will be released to the public is unknown. Microsoft has yet to announce an official release date. Microsoft was planning to roll out the update on April 10, but the abort button was triggered at the last minute of the release due to a bug it discovered. There are also reports that the bug will cause further delays.

Microsoft emphasizes that this update requires less offline time than previous updates, but still requires a reboot. Windows Insiders spent an average of 30 minutes offline to upgrade, compared to 51 minutes for the Fall Creators Update and 82 minutes for the Creators Update.
