This article mainly introduces the configuration process of the PCL library, which is suitable for getting started with PCL.

Two preparations

Three installations
1. Double-click the "PCL-1.8.0-AllInOne-msvc2013-win64.exe" program in the installation package, and select "Add PCL to the system PATH for all users" when installing, as shown in the figure, so that the program is installed The item "PCL_ROOT" is automatically added to the system environment variable.
The following specific content is based on my installation path as an example:
2. During the installation process, the OpenNI installer will pop up, set the OpenNI installation path to the 3rdParty\OpenNI2 folder under PCL_ROOT, for example:
3. After the installation program is completed, unzip the pdb file compression package (ie: PCL-1.8.0-AllInOne-msvc2013-win64-pdb.rar), copy the pdb file to the bin folder under PCL ROOT, for example:
D:\ProGrammeFiles\PCL1.8.0\PCL 1.8.0
Four environment variables
As mentioned above, the installer will automatically add PCL_ROOT to the system environment variables, and also manually add the bin directories of QHull, FLANN, VTK, and OpenNI2 to the PATH, for example:
Note: If the installer does not automatically add PCL_ROOT, you need to add it manually (As shown below)
Five project configuration
1. Create a new project in VS2013. **Note: **The default Active solution plantform (active platform) of the Configuration Manager in VS2013 is win32. If the x64 PCL is installed, it needs to be changed to x64, otherwise there will be strange problems when compiling.
2. Right-click the project in Solution Explorer -> Properties
Add the following two items to Configuration Properties->C/C++->Preprocessor->Preprocessor Definitions:
_SCL_SECURE_NO_WARNINGS
_CRT_SECURE_NO_WARNINGS
3. In the Property Manager.
Property Manager and Solution Explorer are in the same tab layout. If you can't find it, you can find the Property Manager as follows: VIEW (view) in the menu bar -> Other Windows (other windows) -> Property Manager (Property Manager) .
Next, start to configure the property sheet. Here, the configuration in debug mode is taken as an example:
(1) Create a new project "PCL_Test", as shown in the figure above, set the project to 64-bit.
(2) Switch the property manager, add a new project property sheet under Debug|64-bit, and name it "PCL_Debug.props".
The VC++ directory on the left contains the directory settings as shown in the figure:

Seven Conclusions
The process described in the blog post is valid for each version of PCL and each system version of Windows. Downloading the correct PCL and VS versions is a prerequisite for configuration. From the PCL All in one installation package name, you can know the PCL version and the required VS version or system bitness.
