Introduction to RSS

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a format for describing and synchronizing website content, and is the most widely used XML application. RSS builds a technical platform for the rapid dissemination of information, making everyone a potential information provider. After publishing an RSS file, the information contained in this RSS Feed can be directly called by other sites, and since these data are in standard XML format, they can also be used in other terminals and services, which is a description and synchronization The format of the website content.
I myself regard RSS as an information monitoring center. When a website or blog I monitor updates a new article, I can receive relevant pushes here.
For example, I followed a subtitle group of One Piece: Fengxue Anime . This subtitle group will hang the latest episode of Pirate on the homepage. The time is usually one week. When the new episode of Pirate comes out next week, The previous week's resources will be taken off the shelves, and if you don't keep an eye on it every week, it's easy to miss a certain episode. With RSS, I can receive a push every time the subtitle group is updated, so I won't miss it.

RSS feed

After introducing RSS, the next step is how to obtain RSS feeds. Generally, there are three ways. The first one is provided by the website; the second one is provided by RSSHub; the third one is self-made.

The website comes with RSS

RSS subscription service is provided on some websites. Take Fengxue Animation as an example. When you enter this website, you will find an RSS logo:

after clicking, a new URL will appear. Copy the URL to the RSS reader to read it. .

There will be a sign of RSS subscription on the general forum, if not, you can add ?mod=rss after the URL to try. For example:

Website:
http://bbs.kafan.cn/forum-215-1.html
and its rss address is:
http://bbs.kafan.cn/forum-215-1.html?mod=rss

RSSHub offers

RSSHub is an open source, easy-to-use, and extensible RSS generator that can generate RSS feeds for any weird content. RSSHub is developing rapidly with the help of the open source community, and has adapted thousands of items from hundreds of websites.
Taking station b as an example, station b itself does not provide rss feeds, but there is a need for people to subscribe to up master's contributions, news, columns, etc. through rss, so RSSHub provides us with related interfaces. Add this feed in the RSS reading software to see up's contributions, updates, columns, etc. RSSHub also provides many interfaces, which need to be explored by yourself, and the related tutorials of this part will be released later.
Many of the rss URLs provided by RSSHub itself have been blocked, probably because too many people called them, and they were detected as crawlers by station b. The best way is to use your own server for deployment. This related content is written in the Alibaba Cloud Deployment RSSHub Stepping Pit Notes .

Self-built feed

Some really unpopular websites do not have rss subscriptions, and RssHub does not provide corresponding interfaces. At this time, you need to build an RSS feed for the website yourself. The more technical solution currently used is to create RSS feeds through Feed43 . Related tutorials for this part will also be released later.

RSS reader

After having a feed, the next step is to choose a reading software to read RSS. I have tried feedly and inoreader . The advantage is that there are many users, and there are multiple platforms such as pc and mobile. The disadvantage is that The two websites seem to be blocked. Inoreader officially released a Japanese mirror of inoreader in order to deal with the situation of being blocked . Domestic users can access it through this mirror.
I am currently using inoreader to read RSS, this is the main interface:

epilogue

Due to space limitations, this article briefly introduces the rss subscription steps. More specific details, such as the advanced gameplay of RssHub, how to build a subscription source, etc., need to wait for my follow-up updates.
