Disable Windows Update from automatically installing drivers

When Windows updates, it will automatically update the driver, and sometimes even reverse the driver to replace it with the old driver. This can cause some unusual states that are difficult to resolve, such as splash screens. Here's how to disable Windows Update from automatically installing drivers.

Any user can use scheme 1 and scheme 3; professional version users can use scheme 2; if scheme 1, scheme 2 and scheme 3 do not work, you can use scheme 4.

Scenario 1: Modify system settings

Open Windows设置, find 系统 - 关于, enter 系统高级设置, as shown below:

In the pop-up window, select 硬件and click 设备安装设置, as shown in the figure below:

Then select it on the automatic download page 否, as shown below:

Scenario 2: Modify Group Policy

Use the key combination Win+Rto open 运行, enter gpedit.msc, and click 确定to open the Group Policy Editor. Enter 计算机配置 - 管理模板 - 系统 - Internet 通信管理 - Internet 通信设置, find and double-click 关闭 Windows 更新设备驱动程序搜索, check 已启用, as shown below:

Enter 计算机配置 - 管理模板 - Windows组件 - Windows更新, find and double-click Windows更新不包括驱动程序, check 已启用, as shown below:

Solution 3: Modify the registry

Use the key combination Win+Rto open 运行, enter regedit, and click 确定to open the registry. Enter the following path:

计算机\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DriverSearching

Change SearchOrderConfigthe value of to hexadecimal 0, as shown below:

Solution 4: Rollback Driver

设备管理器If the above solution does not work, you can roll back the driver version in Windows after updating the driver , and the driver will not be updated again when Windows is updated next time. The operation steps are as follows:

Open 控制面板, 设备管理器take the core display driver as an example, right click on 显示适配器the core graphics card, select 属性, 驱动程序select in the tab 回退驱动程序, as shown below:
