A new generation of magic: RAD Studio 10.2

Embarcadero hopes to help programmers build cross-platform native applications faster with the latest release of RAD Studio. It is reported that RAD Studio 10.2 is a version with Linux support, improved IDE menus, new features and enhanced C++ performance.

The new version supports LLVM-based Linux compilers for enterprise development. The Delphi Linux Compiler helps programmers adopt new and existing Windows server applications and Linux servers. The Linux compiler has full file system support, threads and parallel libraries, and FireDAC database access support.

According to reports, it not only provides a Linux compiler for Delphi, but also provides developers with familiar core runtime classes and database access components, as well as an integrated development experience, such as the integrated development experience provided by Android, iOS, MacOS and Windows . “We are excited to help customers reduce server costs by easily recompiling existing Windows server applications to produce fast and secure native binaries,” said Cantu, RAD Studio product manager at Embarcadero.

The release also adds a series of improvements to FireMonkey, its cross-platform GUI framework, including multithreading support, a faster Android UI, and enhanced user interaction management.

RAD Studio's database functionality has been updated to provide MariaDB support, new GUID access, MySQL support, and reduced client memory usage.

C++ Builder now has improved compiled C++ performance, debugging, and large memory support; better code packages on iOS and Android, and quality fixes.

Other features include: multi-tenancy support, cross-platform RTL improvements, and IDE enhancements for faster navigation and more

Nick Hodges, Director of Product Management at Embarcadero, said: "The release of RAD Studio 10.2 is a big step forward not only in Linux support, but across larger scale RAD servers, deeper Windows support and the quality developers have come to expect. We also continue to provide support for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Store through the VCL framework."
