Moonbeam Sponsors Polkadot Hackathon Asia to Promote the Development of Interconnected Contract Applications

Polkadot Hackathon Asia will start on July 3rd! Moonbeam will provide two competition questions in this hackathon to promote the development of Connected Contract applications. The winners will be presented in Seoul on September 6.

The Polkadot Hackathon Asia officially opened on July 3, and is co-organized by the protocols in the Polkadot ecosystem to call all developers in the Asia-Pacific region to join the journey. Based on Polkadot, this hackathon gives the development team the opportunity to stand at the forefront of blockchain innovation and push the Web3 giant forward.

This hackathon covers a total of 5 themes : interface and user experience, ink! Smart contracts, Web3 and tools, XCM integration and mass adoption. Finalist teams and projects will present their ideas at the dotSocial event in Seoul on September 6, 2023, gaining unparalleled exposure and recognition.

In addition, this event has a total of $220,000 in prize money, and the first place in each theme will receive a $18,000 prize, the second place will receive a $10,000 prize, and the third place will receive a $7,000 prize. Meanwhile, each project presented at the dotSocial event in Seoul will receive a $3,000 prize. In addition to the hackathon’s own bonuses, some parachain projects have set up questions and rewards for their own use cases and technical characteristics, and specially set up questions and rewards other than the five major themes, hoping to promote the development of the Polkadot ecosystem.

Moonbeam set up two competitions in this Polkadot Hackathon, providing a total of $11,500 in prize money.

Overview of the five tracks

Interface and User Experience

This topic is dedicated to helping development teams understand UI and UX fundamentals, including best practices specifically for blockchain application development. The development team will be able to gain experience in building the various interfaces that the app can adopt and designing the user experience.

ink! smart contract

Explore ink! Smart Contracts, an emerging Rust-based embedded programming language for writing smart contracts for blockchains built with the Substrate framework. By participating in this topic, development teams will have the opportunity to build dApps that run ink's high-performance, secure and flexible smart contracts.

Web3 and tools

This topic focuses on the various tools and applications that are used to scale Web3. Those interested in how we can help build a better web can do so by exploring use cases of open source technology run by the community on a peer-to-peer network on this topic.

XCM integration

This topic aims to delve into the world of cross-chain messaging (XCM), building solutions that support interoperability between participating parachains. This topic is perfect for any developer or development team interested in creating scalable and flexible blockchain solutions that can communicate and transact with other parachains.

wide adoption

This topic aims to create innovative solutions that have the potential for mass adoption by both technical and non-technical users. From developing dApps that simplify everyday tasks, to enhancing user experience (UX), to making dApps more fun and more. Topics emphasize building blockchain-based solutions that are user-friendly, accessible, and scalable.

In addition to the five-themed hackathon competition, this event also launched the "Polkadot Blockchain Academy" , which aims to help developers grow and gain a deeper understanding of Polkadot's features and functions. Polkadot Blockchain Academy is the first classroom-based educational program of its kind, covering the conceptual basis and practical application of blockchain technology, based on Polkadot and Substrate. Founded by Gavin Wood, the academy is managed by senior engineers and researchers from the Polkadot ecosystem, Parity Technologies and the Web3 Foundation.
