When expanding the disk for a virtual machine in VMware, it is prompted: the called function cannot be executed on some chains. Please open the parent virtual disk.

This problem occurs because you have created a snapshot before, but when the snapshot is deleted, the residual files are not deleted

Solution:

Create a new snapshot, then delete the snapshot in the snapshot manager. problem solved
