The LPS22DFTR MEMS Nano Pressure Sensor is an ultra-compact piezoresistive absolute pressure sensor that can be used as a digital output barometer. The LPS22DF consumes less power and has lower pressure noise than the previous generation. The device consists of a sensing element and an IC interface to communicate from the sensing element to the application via I2C, MIPI I3CSM or SPI interface and supports a wide Vdd IO range for the digital interface. The sensing element detects absolute pressure and consists of a suspended membrane manufactured using a proprietary process developed by ST.

The LPS22DF is housed in a fully compression molded perforated LGA package (HLGA). Guaranteed operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C. The package is perforated to allow external pressure to reach the sensing element.

MEMS pressure sensors integrate a sensing element based on piezoresistive Wheatstone bridge method and an I2C interface in a single compact package. The sensing element detects absolute pressure and consists of a suspended membrane. When pressure is applied, membrane deflection causes an imbalance in the Wheatstone bridge, and the IC interface converts the output signal. The LPS33K features a data-ready signal that indicates when a new set of measured pressure and temperature data is available, simplifying data synchronization in digital systems using the device.

The LPS33W is housed in a ceramic LGA package with a metal lid. The package is perforated to allow external pressure to reach the sensing element. The gel inside the IC protects the electrical components from harsh environmental conditions. Typical applications include wearable devices, altimeters and barometers for portable devices, GPS applications, and weather station equipment.
