Feiling Embedded's First RISC-V Core Board | FET7110-C First Look

In March of this year, Turing Award winner David Patterson predicted: "In 3 to 5 years, the RISC-V chip architecture will be ubiquitous." Indeed, as the "Linux" of the chip world, this streamlined, modular, and scalable open source instruction set architecture can be said to be an inevitable trend in the development of the next-generation processor architecture. Under the background of independent and controllable domestic products, RISC-V is also highly sought after by domestic manufacturers due to its completely open source, free and free modification and unconstrained characteristics.

In this context, Feiling Embedded and StarFive, a domestic RISC-V processor manufacturer, jointly launched the FET7110-C core board based on the Fang·Jinghong 7110 processor!

1. Feiling embedded first RISC-V core board

The FET7110-C core board is designed and developed based on the Saifang Technology Fang Jinghong 7110 processor. It adopts the open source RISC-V architecture, integrates 4 cores U74, and has a main frequency of 1.5GHz and a running score of 5.09 CoreMark/MHz.

As a high-performance RISC-V processor that has been mass-produced, it has the characteristics of high performance, multi-function, and low power consumption. At the same time, it provides powerful GPU processing capabilities, supports multi-channel video codec, and supports 2-channel PCIe2. 0, 2-way Gigabit Ethernet, 2-way CAN2.0 and other common function interfaces, support Linux5.15 operating system. It is suitable for the development of applications such as industrial control, human-computer interaction, machine vision, and edge computing.

2. GPU blessing, more abundant computing power

The GPU of JH7110 adopts IMG BXE-4-32 MC1, which can provide powerful processing capability, the working frequency is up to 600MHz, and supports mainstream APIs such as OpenCL 3.0, OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.2, etc. Provide sufficient computing power support for other applications.

3. Dynamic frequency modulation, lower power consumption

In terms of power consumption, JH7110 is divided into 8 power domains that can be switched independently. The CPU frequency can be adjusted by software. Customers can dynamically adjust frequency according to different application scenarios to achieve flexible power consumption control.

4. Dual cameras and dual screens, more colorful

JH7110 provides MIPI-CSI and DVP two camera access methods, supports ISP, supports up to 4K@60fps video decoding and 1080p@30fps video encoding, supports HDMI (4K@30fps) and RGB (1080p@30fps), and MIPI-DSI (2K@30fps) Display output interface, which can realize dual-screen different display.

5. More abundant interface resources

6. Wider range of application scenarios

Feiling embedded FET7110-C core board will be launched soon, so stay tuned!

As the "Linux" of the chip world, the RISC-V open source instruction set was developed and published by a well-known professor team at the University of California, Berkeley in 2010. This instruction set does not belong to any company, and all chip manufacturers can use it and modify it freely. In the past 13 years, RISC-V has found its place in the Internet of Things field, and has achieved shipments of tens of billions of cores so far.
RISC-V has the four characteristics of streamlined and efficient, modular design, open source, and openness. It can realize software and hardware collaborative design, customized computing, and meet China's two major needs for technological innovation and independent control in the semiconductor field. Therefore, to a certain extent In fact, RISC-V is also an important opportunity for the development of China's chip industry.
It is worth mentioning that more than half of the highest-level members of the RISC-V International Association are well-known Chinese companies, and StarFive is one of them. Founded in 2018, Saifang Technology is a local high-tech enterprise that provides CPU IP, SoC and other products and solutions based on the RISC-V instruction set. The FET7110-C jointly released by Feiling Embedded and Saifang Technology this time The core board is equipped with the high-performance RISC-V architecture MPU Fang Jinghong 7110 first launched and mass-produced by Saifang Technology.
