(6) Application of polar coordinates
In the PCB design process, especially the PCB design of the LED circular light board, it is necessary to arrange the LED lamp beads in a circle at equal intervals. It will be very cumbersome to calculate the coordinates of each component before placing it. To achieve the component layout effect shown in the figure, the method of polar coordinates can be used in Altium Designer software.
(1) Open the PCB editor of Altium Designer 19, find the GridManager (grid manager) option in the Properties panel, click the Add button, and execute the "Add Polar Grid (add polar grid)" command, as shown in the figure .
(2) After executing the "Add Polar Grid" command, a New Polar Grid (new grid) will appear in the grid manager, as shown in the figure.
(3) Double-click the newly added New Polar Grid to enter the "Polar Coordinates" setting dialog box. The detailed settings and instructions are shown in the figure.
Note: The product of the angle step value (Angular Step) and the average score must be equal to the difference between the "end angle (EndAngle)" and the "start angle", otherwise the obtained polar coordinates will appear "unequal division".
(4) After setting, click the "OK" button to get the effect of polar coordinates as shown in the figure.
(5) The effect of placing components in polar coordinates is shown in the figure.
