1: Download the upgrade package, which requires a VM account.

2: The upgrade package is a bit big, the latest version is vc-7.0u3h.
3: After the download is completed, upload the patch package to the server's storage.
4: Log in to vCenter and take a snapshot of the existing vCenter. Once problems are discovered during the upgrade, you can use the snapshot to restore it. It is not recommended to keep snapshots for too long, generally no more than seven days, preferably no more than three days. vCenter is unavailable during snapshot generation.
5: Edit the vCenter settings, select the data storage ISO file in the CD/DVD, find the previously uploaded file, and check the connection.
6: Log in to the vCenter console whose port is 5480, and select Check CD ROM in Check for Updates.
7: Find the upgrade installation package, click Dump and install.
8: Accept the agreement and start the pre-installation inspection.
9: Report a password expiration error. Usually the password will not affect our use in the past, but upgrades or updates require password verification.
10: Enable SSH in vCenter management access.
11: Connect using SSH tool.
12: After the connection is successful, enter the shell command.
13: Enter the passwd command to change the password.
This is the default password policy and you can change it.
14: Run the check program again. This time it passed successfully and was not added to the plan.
15: Check I have backed up vCenter Server and its associated database, and click Finish.
16: Start upgrading.
17: During the upgrade, you may exit the upgrade interface and the login interface will appear, but an Exception in invoking authentication handler unidentifiable C++ exception or other problems will occur when logging in. Don’t worry. The upgrade has not been completed yet, so don’t rush to log in.
19: After logging in again, I found that the upgrade was still in progress.
20: Installation successful, close.
21: It is best to wait for a while before logging in. Although you can ping successfully, some services need to be started and you still cannot log in. After logging in, I found that it is already the latest version.
