The Servo project will join the European Linux Foundation

The Servo project was created by Mozilla Research in 2012 as the first major Rust code base other than the compiler itself, and has since become a hallmark of experimental web engine design. Servo's main components have been integrated into the Firefox web browser, and several of its parsers and other underlying libraries have become the foundation of the Rust ecosystem.

Servo is a promising, modern, open web engine for building applications and immersive experiences using web technologies. In 2020, the management of Servo transferred from Mozilla Research to the Linux Foundation. In 2023, Servo was reactivated under the leadership of Igalia, a European member of the Linux Foundation, and there is now a team of engineers working on the project. Today, we are pleased to announce that the Servo project has officially joined the European Chapter of the Linux Foundation.
