Recently, a "heavyweight" contributor has emerged in the open source circle, and his open source debut is straight out of the blue: the 677-page, 219,000-word "Fellow Chicken Dishes Traceability Report" - it has been the most popular after being hosted on Gitee. .
Well-known technology media blogger Lan Xi commented on this : "Although the open source community on the Internet has formed a consensus of altruism - in fact, open source as a whole helps the industry progress - but in traditional industries, open source technology relies on Resources are almost equivalent to eating the pot. ”
Taking this opportunity, OSCHINA contacted the Laoxiangji team and conducted a simple interview with them to talk about why they dared to be the first to open source a report containing core secrets.
1. What is the original intention of Laoxiangji’s “open source”?
1. The food safety issues exposed during the “315 Party” have given us a lot of inspiration, and we should truly respect consumers’ right to know and choose .
2. Making our entire process from ingredients to table public allows consumers to supervise us and force themselves to do better .
3. Influenced by some Internet companies, we hope to share knowledge and promote industry progress together .
2. Before the release, did you expect that this matter would cause such widespread discussion in the technology circle?
No, I didn’t expect that there are so many programmers who care about cooking. Maybe a programmer who can't read a recipe is not a good cook.
3. Laoxiangji and Gitee are in two almost unrelated industries. Why did you choose to use Gitee to publish your report? Is there any story in the decision-making process?
Colleagues in the company recommended uploading it to the Gitee platform, but at first everyone thought it was unnecessary. It is said that your dish is open source and has nothing to do with the code. But some programmer colleagues said: Just tell me whether this is open source, so we uploaded it.
There are also people who are worried that all company secrets will be leaked, or that someone will find problems and loopholes in the company. Later I thought about it and decided that instead of hiding and hiding things, it would be better for everyone to supervise us.
4. The release of traceability reports by fellow chickens is similar to the release of open source code by programmers. This has also caused many programmers to express concern. Did the team understand the open source culture before (do they agree with such a culture after understanding it)?
I partially understand it, but I still agree with it. The company has always advocated sharing and cooperation, which is why we have published all the contact information of our suppliers this time.
5. When a large company opens up the source code of its core product , it often means that it gives up its absolute ownership of it and thus loses part of its profits. Is the Laoxiangji team worried about something similar happening?
Don't worry, if everyone learns from us and recognizes us, we should be happy.
In fact, there are already imitators such as Lao Xiang Duck, Lao Xiang Pig, and Lao Xiang Goose on the market, and we have become accustomed to them.
6. Are there any other “open source” plans in the future? Will the code be open source?
Depending on what everyone needs, the benches, sofas, pots and pans in the store can be open sourced in the future, and the membership applet code can also be considered open source, including [Super Membership] [Free Chicken Legs on Thursdays] [Image Recognition Self-service Checkout] and other related projects .
===End===
Thanks to the Laoxiangji team for accepting the interview, and I look forward to their continued participation and contribution to open source.
