Automatic monitoring tools

You can use the following automated monitoring tools to monitor and report on Amazon RDS when an error occurs:

  • Amazon RDS event  - the event to subscribe to Amazon RDS database instance, database snapshots, database parameters or database security groups receive notification when changes occur. For more information, please refer to the use of Amazon RDS event notification .

  • Database log files  - using Amazon RDS Console or Amazon RDS API operation viewing, downloading or monitoring database log files. You can also check some of the load into a database table database log files. For more information, please refer to the Amazon RDS database log files .

  • Amazon RDS Enhanced monitoring  - real-time view metrics for the operating system. For more information, see the  enhanced surveillance .

In addition, Amazon RDS and Amazon CloudWatch integrated to provide additional monitoring functions:

  • Amazon CloudWatch indicators  - Amazon RDS automatically sent once each active database indexes per minute to CloudWatch. You do not need to pay for additional indicators of Amazon RDS CloudWatch. For more information, please refer to check the database instance index .

  • Amazon CloudWatch Alert  - Amazon RDS you can observe a single index to a specific time period, and performs one or more operations in accordance with an index value with respect to the threshold value for your set. For more information, see  use Amazon CloudWatch monitoring .

  • CloudWatch Logs Amazon  - most database engine allows you to monitor the CloudWatch Logs, the storing and accessing the database log files. For more information, please refer to the  Amazon CloudWatch Logs the User Guide .

Manual monitoring tools

Another important aspect for the monitoring of Amazon RDS is a project manual alarm monitoring CloudWatch not covered. Amazon RDS, CloudWatch, AWS Trusted Advisor and other AWS console control panel provides a summary view of your AWS environment state. We recommend that you should view the log files on the DB instance.

  • You can monitor the following items from Amazon RDS resources of the console:

    • Number of connections to the database instance

    • For instance the number of read and write operations of the database

    • Amount of memory currently used database instance

    • Amount of memory and CPU database instance using

    • Network traffic into and out of the database instance

  • You can choose from AWS Trusted Advisor check the control panel the following cost optimization, security, fault tolerance and performance improvements examination:

    • Amazon RDS database instance idle

    • Amazon RDS security group access to risk

    • Amazon RDS backup

    • Amazon RDS much free zone

    • Create a custom control panel to monitor the services you care about

    • Search and browse all of your AWS resource metrics

    • Create and edit alerts to receive notifications about problems
