Please reply and answer the following questions.

  1. Please introduce yourself. What is your major? Please tell us about one of your hobbies.
  2. What do you think “artificial intelligence” means?
  3. Why are you taking this course?
  4. Do you think one day “artificial intelligence” will surpass “human intelligence”? Please elaborate.

Dear Dr. Mustafa Bilgic ,

//

My hobby is playing with development boards of various types, such as Raspberry PI, Orange PI, Lichee PI, Firefly, Nvidia TX2 (one of Orange Pi ,Orangepi-RK3399 , which is open source made by myself). I like to use them for some cute things like a small voice-enabled smart home gateway, like Jarvis, the butler of the Iron Man.

Artificial intelligence, in my opion, is the replacement and enhancement of human organs. NLP is the extension of human ears and eyes, computer vision is the extension of human eyes, motion control system is the extension of limbs, sensors are extensions of nose and tongue. Of course, there are some artificial intelligence applications that cannot replace people now, but I believe in the future, artificial intelligence will surely empower a lot of traditional industries and bring people happiness.

I chose this course because I want to use it as a transition to an in-depth understanding of AI technology. A preliminary understanding of AI for me was in the course of AI Product Manager at Udacity. But it turned out that courses of Udacity was not deep enough. So I searched a lot of materials, such as professor Andrew Ng’s Deep Learning course. But those are too deep to understand for me. After reading the syllabus of CS480, I knew that this course was what I really needed.

Will “Artificial intelligence” surpass “human intelligence”? Absolutely YES. The current mainstream view is that AI will replace repetitive labor in human society (jobs with very certain inputs and outputs, such as exam scoring, customer service systems, and judging diseases based on CT photos), but will not replace jobs that require subjective emotions (such as psychological counseling and artistic creation).But I think the latter can also be surpassed by AI. Because, to put it bluntly, human emotions are essentially just the electrical signals of the brain, which are combinations zeros and ones. As we make greater progress in brain-computer interface technology and understand the correspondence between electrical signals in the brain and human emotions, it is not impossible for machines to simulate the expression of emotions through specific electrical signals.
