2. Installation
Double-click the msi file to install and continue to the next step
3. Error resolution
After the installation is complete, a client will be displayed on the desktop.
Double-clicking the client has no response for a long time, and finally the error "vCenter Converter 6.2 could not start service" is reported. This is because the Converter needs to be connected to the Internet for the first time after installation. If there is no public network, it cannot be started. It is ok to start after setting up the network connection.
2. Migrate windows physical server
1. Start
Open the client, click Convert machine in the upper left corner
2. Fill in source related information
Fill in the relevant information in the Source System. To perform physical machine migration, select the Powered on option, and select Remote Windows machine for windows physical server migration. Then fill in the IP and account secrets of the physical server to be migrated
3. The source host cannot be connected
There
may be an error when clicking next here.
Error 1
: Unable to contact the specified host '10.200.9.123'. The host might not be available on the network, there might be a network configuration problem, or the managerment services on this host are not responding.
Ping each other or Telnet is all connected at once, indicating that the network is connected.
It may be that the port of the source host is not open. I found a lot of information to open all the ports 901-903/tcp, 901-903/UDP, and 443/tcp mentioned, but it still failed because of the two. The servers are all on the intranet, so the firewall is temporarily turned off, and then the client is installed and then turned on.
4. Install agent
After closing the firewall and connecting again, it will not report the connection failure error, and will prompt to install the client.
5, agent installation error resolution
Choose the first one and click yes, the agent installation will take a while, and wait patiently
. An error may be reported here: Unable to connect to the network share '10.200.9.123\ADMIN$'.
First check if there is admin on the source host Sharing permissions for
net share
I have it here, if not, you can use the following command to open
net share ADMIN$
After turning on the test, mine still doesn't work. So choose to install the agent manually.
Copy the VMware-Converter-Agent.exe program under the VMware vCenter Converter installation path to the source host and install it.
After the installation is complete, check whether the following programs are started in the task manager
Or see if port 9089 is listening. If it is, it means the agent is installed successfully.
netstat -ano|findstr 9089
6. Fill in the target host information
After the agent installation is complete, enter the interface for filling in the Destination host information.
Here is to put the migrated vmdk file under the local network address\WIN-QLUM6F3R525\kvm-iso. The stored address must be a network address. The method of creating a network address is as follows:

- Right-click the folder and select Share -> Specific User -> Select __VMware_Conv_SA__
- Right-click the file to copy the link
- Just paste it on the path.
