As we all know, OCP is the world's largest open computing standards organization, its mission is to achieve scalable computing, provide efficient server, storage and data center hardware design to reduce the environmental impact of data centers, initiated by Facebook and other members, including Google , Microsoft, IBM, etc.



In this IPF2018, OCP CTO Bill will give a keynote speech to share the future trend of open computing with you. Today, the annual OCP summit is becoming a "wind vane" for the development trend of global cloud data centers. In fact, the reason why an open organization such as OCP has attracted the attention of global technology giants is undoubtedly directly related to the current trend of open source and openness.


It can be seen that in the field of software, open source software represented by OpenStack is changing the new ecology of basic software; and in the field of data centers, this trend is also accelerating. The reasons behind it can be observed from three levels:


First, with the rise of artificial intelligence-driven heterogeneous computing, cloud data centers have evolved from efficiency to intelligence, and industry digital transformation has driven a surge in the number of intelligent terminal connections. These backgrounds have broken the development model of traditional data centers in the past.


Especially represented by CSPs such as Google, Facebook, BAT, etc. They are not only leading Internet operators, but also have huge cloud computing data centers, and they also occupy a considerable market share in the procurement of data center servers every year. The development of the center also has a greater and greater right to speak.


Secondly, as the scale of CSP cloud data centers becomes larger and larger, they are also more inclined to highly integrated, modularized, and application-oriented equipment customization in hardware procurement, which leads to traditional rack servers and blade servers. Abandoned gradually, a new generation of cloud servers represented by complete cabinet servers has become the main procurement product of CSPs at home and abroad. However, since the new generation of cloud servers is not a standardized product, this also increases the procurement cost of CSPs.

Finally, as a result of this, the global call for an open source data center hardware ecosystem is getting louder. In this context, Facebook launched the OCP project in 2012, taking the lead in exposing some of Facebook's data center equipment design standards, and attracting many companies to join; in the same year, Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba, China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom In 2016, LinkedIn launched OPEN19, and so far three open organizations, OCP, ODCC and OPEN19, have been formed in the world.


It is not difficult to see that the changes in CSPs in China and the United States undoubtedly confirm the trend that open computing has become the mainstream choice for global cloud data centers. It can be judged that open computing is promoting a new round of changes and innovations in computing architecture, and will also reshape the new pattern of the global server market.

At the same time, Inspur also actively participates in other international organizations to provide users with customized solutions that meet multiple scenarios and continuously meet the individual needs of users.


Second, adhere to practice as the only criterion for testing truth, and meet the needs of CSPs through continuous technological innovation. As such, Inspur has been recognized by many Internet "benchmark" customers, which is also the decisive factor for Inspur to gradually stand out from the competition.


For example, Inspur has maintained its No. 1 share in China's Internet industry for four consecutive years, and its SR series products have a market share of more than 60%, which has become synonymous with complete rack servers. Inspur is still the manufacturer with the highest market share in the field of artificial intelligence. More than 90% of the artificial intelligence servers of Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent are from Inspur.

For example, at the end of 2016, ODCC released "Technical Specification for Scorpio Entire Cabinet V2.5", adding two standards of PCI-E switch and SAS switch. At the same time as the new standard was released, Inspur launched the corresponding products and is the largest in China. Batch applications are implemented in two Internet operators.


Second, Inspur can efficiently coordinate the upstream and downstream industries to provide industrial support for these standards, and shorten the industrial implementation from technical standards to applications.
