Austrian doctoral joint training visa application experience (Austria visa)

Record the experience of applying for a visa in Austria for reference by friends in need:
I am applying for a one-year joint training at Klagenfurt University. A normal residence visa takes half a year, but if there is a hosting agreement (Hosting Agreement), you can apply first. Type D visa, apply for long-term residence after arriving in Austria. Since I have a Hosting Agreement, I will record my visa experience with a hosting agreement. For your reference.

2. Material Interpretation

  1. passport. It is recommended to apply for a passport in advance.
  2. passport photo. Here I took the photo by myself and it was not in compliance when I got the visa. It is recommended to go directly to a photo studio near the Beijing visa office. To take pictures there, just tell the staff about the Austrian visa.
  3. Minimum funds to finance your stay in Austria. Here, just use the funding certificate issued by CSC, as shown in the picture below:

  4. Rental contract. Issued by the landlord after paying the rent, as shown below:

  5. Health insurance. Buy Austrian official insurance.
  6. The criminal record certificate requires notarization and double authentication (as shown on the right in the picture below). This is a bit expensive and it is recommended to do it last, because there is a time limit of 3 months. Need to arrive in Austria within 3 months, and also used when applying for residence (Chinese-German bilingual)

  7. Birth certificate notarization and double authentication. This is the same as a certificate of no criminal record.
  8. Escrow agreement (this is the most important material and needs to be provided by the university applicant), the escrow agreement is shown in the figure below.

3. Application

First make an appointment through the embassy website. After emailing [email protected] to send a copy of your passport and the date you plan to go to Beijing to apply for a visa, the staff will submit an appointment application for you. Applications must be addressed in person to the Austrian Embassy in Beijing .

I made an appointment at ten o'clock in the morning, but I was waiting at the gate of the Beijing embassy before nine o'clock. After opening the door, the security guard asked me to enter the small house for the visa and wait. The interview began at about ten o'clock. The visa officer is very nice, amiable, and a young lady. Those who communicate in simple English, and occasionally speak a sentence or two in Chinese, they will definitely understand anyway.

Her main task was to review the materials. Among the materials I submitted, all the Chinese ones were returned, leaving only the English ones. My accommodation certificate was issued by OEAD, and there were a lot of documents. She only left the four-page German Booking confirmation, and didn't want anything else. After reviewing all the materials, I found that the application form I had prepared was wrong, and there was one copy of the proof of accommodation missing. Returned the materials to me, and printed a blank application form for me, and asked me to go out and fill out the form and copy it before coming back to submit. (Remember all documents, please be sure to make two copies, and you can also bring one or two extra copies.)

The most difficult thing is that the application forms are all in German, and the mobile phone has to be turned off at the place where the visa is issued. I looked at the newly issued application form with a confused face. Fill in in English (note that there are no mobile phones). It is strongly recommended to fill out the application form in advance, and then you can refer to it even if the form needs to be filled out again.

You can also ask someone for help. Some friends said that when making an appointment, the security guard at the embassy gate recommended a German-speaking teacher (service fee: 300 yuan). After making contact in the evening, she waited at the gate of the embassy on time.
